Sacha Killeya-Jones out vs Texas A&M Aggies

UK loses another backup big man.

The Kentucky Wildcats are already facing a major test at Texas A&M that just got even tougher.

Sophomore forward Sacha Killeya-Jones did not make the trip to College Station and is out tonight, according to SEC Country’s Kyle Tucker.

Sacha is out because he is attending the funeral of Raymond Jones, his paternal grandfather, who passed away on Jan. 30, the night the Kentucky beat Vanderbilt. Since then, Sacha has been wearing customized shoes that honored his late grandfather.

In 14 games this season, Sacha is averaging 3.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. He recorded just one rebound and two points in Tuesday’s loss to Tennessee.

While this doesn’t look like a big loss on paper, it’s a big hit to UK’s frontcourt depth, which is already without Tai Wynyard. Not having Tai and Sacha means UK will have a thin bench against a mammoth Aggies frontline.

But that’s all trivial as we’re talking about a family member passing. All that really matters is Sacha is with his friends and family during this tough time.
