Kentucky visits top-10 recruit JT Thor

Thor is a name to keep on an eye on.

The Kentucky Wildcats were in tonight to visit with 2021 five-star JT Thor, according to Stock Risers’ Jake Weingarten.

Thor is a 6’8, 190-pound power forward out of Huntington Prep in Huntington, West Virginia. He is ranked No. 10 overall and the No. 1 player from West Virginia in the 247 Sports rankings.

He’s only a sophomore, but he already holds offers from the likes of Florida, Arizona State, Cal, UConn, and Ole Miss. Kentucky has started recruiting players earlier and earlier each year, so it looks like this trend will continue. Maybe an offer will come sooner rather than later.

Not to be confused with the Marvel superhero or New York Mets’ starting pitcher, Thor’s name might sound familiar to Cats’ fans. That’s because he recently visited Kentucky for Big Blue Madness in October. Now, it looks like Kentucky is returning the favor.

Another interesting tidbit about Thor is that he plays alongside a major Kentucky target in Jaemyn Brakefield at Huntington Prep. Brakefield is a 2020 five-star forward whose Crystal Ball is currently in UK’s favor with 100% of the picks.

Thor will be worth keeping an eye on moving forward. The fact that Coach Calipari is reaching out so early shows how interested Kentucky is.

But since he’s only a sophomore, it’ll be awhile before we see him on a college basketball court. So for now, just enjoy these highlights.
