If you didn’t already know, John Calipari likes his team.
Just a couple of days after Kentucky’s sound victory in Louisville for the first true road game of the season, the head ball coach took to Twitter for a New Year’s Eve update that should excite fans even more.
Just left the guys. Three sessions today. Man, they are dialed in. My job is to make them uncomfortable. Their job is to be comfortable when it is uncomfortable!

The team has been playing fantastic basketball since the beginning of December, as they have earned back their respect as title contenders after convincing victories against North Carolina and Louisville away from Rupp Arena.
They’ve been able to do so by finally finding an identity and a lineup that works, and it works because of hard work. Kentucky’s cohesion right now looks outstanding because everybody knows what they need to do to win.
Player-driven practices are enjoyable for players and coaches. Stay in the moment! Conquer yourself each day and watch what happens. #HappyNewYear!!!

Of course, this team has the beneficiary of having great-minded leaders who only know passion and the will to win. Reid Travis has been everything and more to this team, and his connection with PJ Washington has made the frontcourt pairing almost unstoppable.
We all know Keldon Johnson is the ultimate effort player, and Tyler Herro has stepped in that regard as well.
This all starts in the gym and during practices when we don’t get to see them. That is where the right mindset is made, and this is just another sign that this team has it figured out.
Enjoy the ride.
