Josh Allen now has second-highest odds of being the first overall pick

Could a dominant bowl game put him over the edge?

With the NFL Draft just a few months away, the wise guys in Las Vegas are ready to take bets on the draft order.

According to OddsShark, Kentucky star Josh Allen has the second best chance (+350) to be taken with the overall No. 1 pick.

Nick Bosa is the heavy favorite (-300) despite the fact that he only suited up in three games this season. The edge rusher has been projected as the top pick in the 2019 draft since the 2018 draft ended. Not only is he sitting out for the Ohio State Buckeyes bowl game, but he sat out the last few games of the season despite speculation that he was ready to play.

Josh Allen returned for his senior season to help Kentucky win and improve his draft stock, and he has accomplished both of those things beyond fans’ wildest expectations. And despite being a consensus top five pick in the draft, he still plans to play one more game for the Kentucky Wildcats on Tuesday.

After being named the consensus Defensive Player of the Year, I doubt there is much that Allen could do in the Citrus Bowl to propel him past Bosa in draft projections. However, to go from outside the first round to the No. 2 overall pick is quite a story, one that I am glad we got to witness first-hand.

Oh, and not that we condone gambling here at A Sea of Blue, but +350 means that if you bet $100 on Allen to be the No. 1 pick, you stand to win $350 if you are correct. For Bosa, -300 means you would have to bet $300 to win $100. Good luck!
