Florida State edge rusher eyeing transfer to Kentucky?

The former Kentucky target may be pondering a move to the Bluegrass.

Xavier Peters is a former 4-star linebacker from West Chester, OH. The Kentucky Wildcats were a finalist in Peters’ recruitment, but he ultimately took his talents to Tallahassee to play for the Florida State Seminoles. As his freshman year is coming to a close, it seems as though he is looking to play closer to home.

According to KSR, Peters is strongly considering joining the Wildcats next season. Apparently, Kentucky will be competing against a couple of unnamed Big 10 teams for his services.

Peters only appeared in two games for Florida State this season, so he is eligible for a redshirt. Wherever the defensive end/outside linebacker lands, he may be eligible for four seasons of eligibility. If the Wildcats are able to land Peters, he would add to an already impressive defensive class coming in next fall.

He obviously has a relationship with the coaching staff at Kentucky. Peters actually committed to play for the Wildcats in the summer of 2017 before flipping to Florida State in January of 2018.

That history with the Kentucky staff, particularly Vince Marrow, has to provide the Wildcats’ staff with a head start in his transfer recruitment. Also, Matt Jones believes “Kentucky has a VERY good chance of getting Peters.” If he feels that strongly, he must be hearing good things from those directly involved.
