This game has brought us so many classics over the years.
From Malik Monk going for nearly 50 points a few years back to Luke Maye hitting the gut-wrenching jump shot to knock the Cats out of the tournament in that same year, you can usually count on a heavyweight battle between the Kentucky Wildcats and the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Both teams are coming off big wins last week. UNC’s just happened to be over the No. 4 team in the country at the time, the Gonzaga Bulldogs.
North Carolina was firing on all cylinders in that game against the Bulldogs. However, that doesn’t mean Kentucky has no chance.
In fact, last week was one of the few times we saw Kentucky have great success from beyond the arc as they shot 12/21 (57%) in a 27-point win over the Utah Utes. At the same time, they defended the three very well, holding Utah to 7/23 (30.4%) from beyond the arc.
Kentucky hasn’t done either of those things well this season, so it’s encouraging to see the team do that the week before the second biggest game of the year.
The game will be broadcast on CBS at approximately 5:15 EST following the conclusion of Ohio State Buckeyes vs. UCLA Bruins. Both games can be streamed online using cbssports.com and the CBS Sports mobile app.
