JJ Weaver, Jared Casey and Moses Douglass sign with Kentucky

Kentucky signs its top three recruits in the Class of 2019.

The Kentucky Wildcats have typically suffered some big decommitments in each class under Mark Stoops.

It happened again this year with Wandale Robinson, but that turned out to be the only major loss Kentucky would suffer this winter.

On Wednesday, Kentucky received national letters of intent from four-star defensive end JJ Weaver, four-star linebacker Jared Casey and four-star safety Moses Douglass. We wrote how these are the three most important players in Kentucky’s 2019 class, and they’re all now officially Wildcats.

The 6-2, 186-pound Douglass holds offers from Alabama, West Virginia, Michigan State and Wisconsin among many others. That kind of offer list speaks to how big of a get this was for Mark Stoops and his staff.

Douglass’ father is Maurice Douglass, a former UK defensive back who played 11 seasons in the NFL from 1986-1996. That connection made it hard for the younger Douglass to pass on playing for the same school his father played at.

Casey, a 6-3, 232-pound inside linebacker, held offers from Oregon , Louisville, Wisconsin, Purdue and Syracuse before ultimately landing with Kentucky. He actually originally committed to Oregon before flipping to the Wildcats.

Weaver, a 6-6, 240-pound defensive end, held offers from Georgia, Tennessee, Miami, Louisville, Purdue and Ole Miss among others. He was initially planning to sign in the spring, which would have given other schools more time to flip him, but Kentucky was able to get him signed now.

Getting Weaver and Casey was even more sweet since they’re two of the best players from the state of Kentucky.
