NCAA Basketball: Kentucky at Seton Hall Nicole Sweet-USA TODAY Sports

The Utah Utes are in Lexington to take on the Kentucky Wildcats today. The Utes are coming in at 4-4 with losses to Minnesota, Hawaii, Northwestern, and BYU. They aren’t a great team, but neither are the Seton Hall Pirates and we all remember what happened last Saturday.

With the loss of Quade Green this week, the Cats are in a weird spot. Their identity is in question and there are still some guys that don’t exactly know their role on the team.

If they Cats win today, pump the brakes on “This team has figured it out” or any other bold proclamations. We fell into that trap after UNC Greensboro. I’m in a holding pattern right now and will make a more concrete assessment at the end of December.

But if the Cats somehow lose, then they’re in a heap of trouble.

Tweets of the Day

Jemarl Baker has logged just one minute in one and quarter seasons at UK but now he has a golden opportunity to make a mark on this team.

This has nothing to do with Kentucky sports but I’m still floored by such a morbid statement from my sweet four year old boy.

I’m still at a loss for words. I can’t believe Calipari actually said this. These comments are just bizzarre.

Quickies

Benny Snell will enter draft after UK’s bowl game | Cats Pause- Snell will have one last opportunity to become Kentucky’s all time leading rusher. The fact that he and Josh Allen are staying to play in the Citrus Bowl speaks volumes about their character.

Cal tells team to relish tough stretch | UK Athletics- I agree with this statement but then don’t turn around and tell the team to act like they won a game they clearly lost. That’s the opposite of tough.

UK vs. Utah roundtable and predictions | Cats Illustrated- The folks over at Cats Illustrated discuss the game and how the absence of Quade Green will affect the team.

Shareef O'neal undergoes heart surgery | CBS- The son of Shaq was once a UK target but ultimately ended up at UCLA. He was diagnosed with a heart problem before the season started and is in recovery after surgery. He is expected to miss the entire season. Well wishes and a speedy recovery.

High stakes games today | ESPN- It’s not a sleepy Saturday in college hoops as there are games around the country worth paying attention to. Penny Hardaway’s hapless Memphis team has a chance to make a statement against #3 Tennessee. Good luck with that, Penny.

UK Hoops start five game home stretch | UK Athletics- The best way to get the taste of losing to your bitter rival out of your mouth is by getting a nice comfortable stretch at home. The #18 UK Women will start that stretch today against Middle Tennessee State at 1:00 PM.

I’m posting these tweets because JJ Weaver changed his mind and will sign during the early period next week. Weaver had taken a visit to UofL and then pushed back his signing day until February. After a week of people questioning his commitment, Weaver decided to go ahead and make it official ASAP which is a good move by him.

I mean, why in the hell would he flip to a school with three recruits and App State’s Soupy Saturday coaching that bum team Bobby Petrino left behind? The fact that he broke the hearts of the Cardinal fans makes him my favorite recruit in the class.

Good on ya’ JJ!

Kings troll Steph Curry | ESPN- Steph Curry made headlines earlier this week by saying that he didn’t think the moon landing in 1969 actually happened. Curry later backtracked after the backlash he received and when NASA stepped in and offered proof.

“The moon landing didn’t happen” is a popular conspiracy theory.

Stanley Kubrick staged the moon landing

The moon landings were faked

Moon landing conspiracy theories debunked

Enjoy the rabbit hole....
