JJ Weaver visits Louisville and now plans to wait until spring to sign

That would seem to be less than ideal for Kentucky with arguably its best recruit.

It looks like Kentucky will have to sweat out the JJ Weaver recruitment a little while longer.

The four-star defensive end is committed to the Kentucky Wildcats, but he now is planning to wait until February to sign his national letter of intent, according to Rivals’ Chris Person.

By not signing in the early period, which begins next week, Weaver is sending a pretty clear message that he’s not 100 percent committed to Kentucky, especially since this came right after Weaver visited the Louisville Cardinals over the weekend.

Weaver, a 4-star prospect by 247 Sports and the nation’s 332nd-best player, is originally from South Florida but moved to Kentucky in middle school. He now plays at Moore Traditional School in Louisville, so it makes sense he’s considering the nearby Cardinals.

The early signing period for college football is Dec. 19-21. Expect Kentucky to make a push in hopes of getting him signed then, as it’s going to get really interesting if Louisville gets over another month to recruit him.
