The Kentucky Wildcats are holding their breath after watching Keldon Johnson go down with an injury.
The freshman forward went down late in the first half of their matchup with the UNC Greensboro Spartans. It appeared to be an ankle injury that had him writhing in pain for about a minute.
Johnson eventually limped off the floor and went to the locker room for further evaluations. However, Johnson is already back on the UK bench, which would indicate it’s nothing serious and he could return to the game.
Johnson exited the game with five points on 2/4 shooting to go with three rebounds and an assist. He’s averaging 16.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game this season. He’s been arguably Kentucky’s best player this season, and when he went down, the Spartans went on a run to take a 40-37 lead into halftime.
At halftime, Kentucky announced that Johnson was cleared to return, so it appears Kentucky dodged a bullet.
Johnson would return in the second half and help kentucky finish strong en route to a 78-61 win. He would finish with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
