Jay Ward decommits from Kentucky

Ward was recently offered by LSU.

The Kentucky Wildcats have lost a football pledge in the Class of 2019.

On Tuesday, three-star cornerback Jay Ward announced his recruitment was now back open.

Ward recently received an offer from the LSU Tigers, who he just visited. As good as Kentucky has been this season, it’s hard to beat DBU for a promising DB like Ward. There have been two recent crystal ball predictions in favor of LSU, even before he decommitted from Kentucky.

The 6-1, 170-pound cornerback originally committed to Kentucky back on June 22. He plays for Colquitt County High School in Moultrie (GA). He also holds offers from West Virginia, Indiana, Marshall, Iowa State and Western Kentucky among others.

It’s a tough setback for Kentucky, especially at a position where Derrick Baity, Chris Westry and Lonnie Johnson will be graduating, leaving some major holes at the position for 2019.

It’s unclear if Kentucky is completely out of the running for Ward, though it’s hard to see him ending up back with the Wildcats if LSU is serious about him.
