New College Football Top 25 Polls and Power Rankings

Lots of movement after nine top-25 teams went down.

The college football regular season is winding down now that the first week of November action has come and gone.

Most teams now have just three games remaining on their schedule before postseason play begins. For Kentucky, it won’t be in the SEC Championship, as Georgia proved to be too much to overcome in Saturday’s 34-17 win, giving the Dawgs another SEC East crown.

On the other side, Alabama crushed LSU to win the SEC West and setup a national title game rematch with Georgia in Atlanta. The winner of that game will be in the College Football Playoff, though Alabama can lose and probably still make it.

While Kentucky’s loss was tough, they didn’t fall far in the latest polls thanks a to a host of upsets this week, including losses by Penn State, Texas, Florida, Texas A&M, Iowa, Utah, Houston and Virginia.

That has Kentucky checking at No. 12 in the latest Coaches and AP Poll. That feels like where this 7-2 Kentucky team should be right now, though it’s obvious they’ll finish in the top 10 if they just win the rest of their games, which starts this week vs. Tennessee.

ESPN’s latest power rankings have the Wildcats sitting at No. 12.

The Wildcats got their coveted shot to make a statement and fell short against the undisputed top team in the SEC East. Georgia gouged the Wildcats for 331 rushing yards in Lexington and held UK to just three points on three consecutive possessions that crossed midfield in the first half. Kentucky, the only FBS team that hadn’t allowed more than 20 points in a game this season, allowed 20 in the second half alone.
