Where Kentucky stands in new College Football Playoff Rankings

The postseason picture continues to take shape.

The regular season is over for the Kentucky Wildcats, and they ended it in about as impressive of a fashion as one could hope for.

The Wildcats will enter the postseason with a 9-3 record following their 56-10 drubbing of the Louisville Cardinals. That has the Wildcats riding very high going into what hopes to be a big-time bowl game.

As of now, the Outback Bowl and Citrus Bowl appear to be the likeliest destinations. Part of that is due to their standing in the College Football Playoff ranking. As good as this season has been, Kentucky is going to come up just short of making a New Year’s Six Bowl.

The latest rankings have Kentucky checking in at the No. 15.

Teams like the Florida Gators, Penn State Nittany Lions, Washington Huskies and Washington State Cougars remain ahead of Kentucky, which means those last few New Year’s Six spots will go to them instead of the Wildcats.

That’s why Kentucky will likely land in the next tier of bowls, which include the Outback and Citrus Bowls.
