Kentucky may be struggling to land a big in 2019, but they’ve already got their sights set on N’Faly Dante in the Class of 2020.
Dante, the first 2020 recruit Kentucky offered, is someone John Calipari and his staff have kept a keen eye on this year. That included a visit to see Dante in action this past weekend, and the five-star center wants to return the favor.
According to Chris Fisher of CatsPause, Dante wants to visit Kentucky. That’s a really good sign for the interest level between the two parties. It’s also pretty telling that Dante is the only legitimate big man in 2020 that Kentucky has shown interest in.
Right now, Dante is the only 2020 big man that holds an offer from Calipari. There has been speculation that Dante could be a candidate for reclassification, though there hasn’t been anything definitive to say it’s a realistic possibility.
Initially, LSU looked like the favorite in this recruitment with a host of crystal ball picks that included Evan Daniels. However, Kentucky and Oregon have both received picks since then.
Hailing from Wichita (KS), Dante currently plays for Sunrise Christian Academy. He is ranked as high as No. 7 overall by Rivals. ESPN has him ranked 12th, while 247 Spots ranks him 14th.
Two of the three services have the 6-11, 235-pound Dante ranked as the best center in 2020. He currently holds scholarship offers from the Oregon Ducks, Kansas Jayhawks, LSU Tigers and Oklahoma State Cowboys among many others.
