DJ Jeffries says Memphis will beat Kentucky like Duke did if they ever play

The former UK commit continues to take shots at the Wildcats.

After announcing his decommitment from Kentucky and signing with Memphis, DJ Jeffries caught a ton of backlash from Kentucky Wildcats fans on social media.

According to a recent Twitter post taken from a GoTigers247 article from Christian Fowler, Jeffries has a simple message for BBN in response.

“Just know if we ever play them it’s going to be the same result as Duke.”

Ouch.

This is just the latest in a saga of growing bad bad blood between Kentucky and Jeffries’ camp. He was effectively recruited over when Kentucky took commitments from Dontaie Allen and Kahlil Whitney in the Class of 2019, and it’s just gotten uglier ever since.

Remember, The Tigers also signed top big man prospect James Wiseman, who played in high school for current Memphis coach Penny Hardaway at Memphis East, away from Kentucky and coach John Calipari, which was a tough pill to swallow.

It certainly looks like there is a rivalry brewing in the mid-south between the Cats and the Tigers. When is the next open date on the schedule?

Penny Hardaway has talked about getting a series going with Kentucky, but to this point, one has yet to materialize. Perhaps they could play in the NCAA Tournament, but that’s about the only hope of seeing Kentucky vs. Memphis right now.

You hate to see a relationship between two parties deteriorate at the rate it has between Kentucky and Jeffries, but that’s just how it goes in recruiting sometimes.

What do you think of Jeffries’ comments?
