It has become common practice for top collegiate football players to sit out of bowl games to prepare for the NFL Draft and avoid injury leading up to the draft. Some of speculated that Kentucky’s top prospects, Josh Allen and Benny Snell, may consider doing so this year. However, Mark Stoops does not believe that will happen.
In his postgame comments following Kentucky’s dismantling of the Louisville Cardinals, Stoops said that he expected all players to participate in the Wildcats’ bowl game in the coming months. Especially for Allen, who is projected as a top-10 pick, there could be some pressure to sit. But Stoops expects that he will play.
Some other NFL hopefuls Kentucky has include cornerback Derrick Baity, offensive guard Bunchy Stallings and tight end CJ Conrad, who actually got dinged up against Louisville.
In the end, you just want what’s best for the players and their families, so hopefully, that’s what comes to pass.
