One of the strengths of this year’s Kentucky Wildcats football team as been the offensive line. That unit took a hit against the Louisville Cardinals on Saturday as guard Luke Fortner was ejected early in the fourth quarter.
In a game marred by personal fouls and unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, Kentucky’s biggest mistake came from Fortner after an extra point in the fourth quarter, which put Kentucky ahead 42-10.
The redshirt sophomore has played in every game this season and has been a key piece for this dominant offensive line. Thankfully, the game was essentially over before Fortner was ejected.
However, it must have been an extremely malicious hit as he was ejected immediately due to the severity of the penalty, a call you rarely see from officials. It is possible that Fortner could receive further punishment from the SEC or the University of Kentucky upon review of the play, which was not seen on television.
