Good day to you, Big Blue Nation.

The time is upon us. The Kentucky Wildcats will take on the Louisville Cardinals for the annual battle for the Governor’s Cup. The Cats are 8-3 while the Cards are an abysmal 2-9.

For months now, UofL has been one of the worst teams in the Power 5. It’s a close call between them and Rutgers as who is the absolute worst.

UK is heavy favorite heading into Cardinal Stadium. This is a golden opportunity for Kentucky not only to embarrass their rivals, but the secure a ninth win and the best bowl game since Tim Couch led the Cats to the Outback Bowl.

Normally I would be a little nervous about this game no matter how much the Cats were favored by, but Louisvlile is truly awful. They don’t have a coaching staff and they haven’t even been close to winning since blowing it against Florida State earlier in the season.

If the Cats don’t roll I’ll be disappointed. This is the get well game for the offense.

Tweets of the Day

It’s very possible there will be more blue than red in that stadium.

Keldon Johnson had his best game as a Wildcat last night.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Quickies

Cats to debut new helmets against Cards | Cats Pause- Not often do we get new uniform debuts on the road but the Cats are feeling quite confident in how they will perform against Louisville. As they should. UofL doesn’t do anything well. At all.

Can a really bad Louisville team but Kentucky? | WDRB- Rick Bozich answers this questions an emphatic “no”. If UK loses it will have to take an epic meltdown on their part.

Bold predictions | Saturdays Down South- Last week was all about Josh Allen breaking records. This week it’s going to be all about Benny Snell being the all time leading rusher at Kentucky.

Keldon Johnson powers past Tennessee State | Cats Illustrated- Keldon Johnson made a living at the free throw line and in the middle of the Tennessee State zone. He saw that nobody on their team could stop him from driving and he took full advantage of it.

Calipari: “We are not a very good team right now” | Cats Pause- Coach Cal finally got pissed off after a performance. It’s been building for weeks now but Calipari has been fairly positive after some lackluster performances. Not anymore. The fact is the team just has not put together one good 40 minute stretch.

Kentucky looking to put together best season in 41 years | UK Athletics- There is a lot on the line for Kentucky today. It’s a matter of history and pride.

Governor’s Cup Storylines | WDRB- One of the big storylines is whether or not the teams will engage in pre- or in-game fisticuffs. Things are always contentious but last year the Kentucky players were out of control. I have a feeling Mark Stoops has laid down the law.

Kansas beats Vols in OT | CBS- Tennessee is making the case that they are the best team out of the SEC. I don’t see any reason why they’re not right now. I remember laughing at the notion that any team other than UK would win the conference and yet here we are.

Phil Mickelson wins The Match | ESPN- Lefty is $9 millions richer as he defeated Tiger Woods in their head-to-head golf matchup.

Mike Ditka hospitalized after heart attack | Sporting News- The legendary Beats coach is in good condition after suffering a heart attack. He is 79 years old.

Men’s soccer to face Lipscomb for Elite Eight | UK Athletics- It’s a big day for the futbol team as well as the third ranked Cats play at 7:00 PM in Lexington.

Cards lose to Marquette in overtime | Big Red Louie- Yeah there were a lot of bad calls in this battle of teams bound for the NIT, but the Cards dropped their second in a row and that “feel good loss” vs. Tennessee doesn’t feel so good right now. UK football about to bust the Cards too. Not a good weekend to be a Cardinal.

I’ll be on ESPN 680 doing a joint pregame and postgame show with Mark Ennis from 93.9 The Ville. Tune in and check it out!
