The Kentucky Wildcats finally get to eight wins in a season for the first time since 1984. But the chance for nine wins is still right there in front of the Wildcats with a trip to Louisville next Saturday.
After Kentucky beat Middle Tennessee State on Saturday, the Wildcats’ bowl projections did not budge at all, except for maybe their opponent.
Here’s a breakdown by website of where Kentucky stands for bowl season:
CBS Sports:
Citrus Bowl vs Northwestern Wildcats, January 1st
SBNation:
Citrus Bowl vs Wisconsin Badgers, January 1st
Sports Illustrated:
Outback Bowl vs Michigan State Spartans, January 1st
NBC Sports:
Citrus Bowl vs Northwestern Wildcats, January 1st
Orlando Sentinel
Citrus Bowl vs. Northwestern Wildcats, January 1st
Athlon Sports
Citrus Bowl vs. Penn State Nittany Lions, January 1st
ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura
Citrus Bowl vs. Northwestern Wildcats, January 1st
ESPN’s Mitch Sherman
Outback Bowl vs. Penn State Nittany Lions, January 1st
College Football News
Citrus Bowl vs. Northwestern Wildcats, January 1st
While the majority of outlets have Kentucky facing off against Northwestern again, bowl games against Michigan State and Wisconsin would be fun as well. Last week the majority of websites had Kentucky vs Penn State as the potential matchup, but Penn State has now jumped into a NY6 bowl after a dominating 20-7 win over Rutgers.
Then again, a rematch from last year’s Music City Bowl would be the perfect way to send these seniors — and likely Benny Snell — out in style with sweet revenge vs. the Big Ten Wildcats.
Regardless of who the opponent is, it looks like Kentucky is firmly in the driver's seat to be headed towards Orlando to play in the Citrus Bowl.
