The Kentucky Wildcats are now 3-1 on the young season after beating the VMI Keydets, 92-82.
It was a wild game that saw the Keydets light it up from deep and remain in the game late into the second half.
Thankfully, Kentucky got big performances by Reid Travis and PJ Washington, who were nearly unstoppable in the paint against an undersized VMI squad.
However, the Keydets got a huge performance from sophomore Bubba Parham, who at one point hard 32 points compared to 36 for the rest of his teammates. Parham was hitting them from Tayshaun Prince range, but the Wildcats did enough to hold on for a win, thanks in large part to several big shots (and free throws) by Quade Green down the stretch. The sophomore guard looked like a seasoned senior to help the young Wildcats picked up their third win.
This wasn’t by any means a great win for Kentucky, but they did continue to show progress from what we saw in the first two games vs. Duke and Southern Illinois, though the defense is still clearly a work in progress.
