At times it wasn’t pretty but the Kentucky Wildcats got the job done 34-23 against the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders.
It was a record breaking day for Josh Allen as he set the single season sack record and the season sack record on the same play. It was an emotional day for Joshua Paschal as he returned from battling melanoma and three foot surgeries.
When the smoke cleared, Kentucky sat at 8-3, a record this program has not seen since 1984.

If the Cats win at Louisville on Saturday, they will be 9-3 with a chance to win a tenth game. Fans that are disappointed in this team or this season need a reality check. This team has been special.

It was disappointing that not more people were there but consider the opponent. That’s all I got.

Quickies
Josh Paschal returns and records tackle | Cats Pause-
At the end of the day, like I was saying earlier about God’s plan for me, it wasn’t just why me because I knew when I gave my life to Christ that I was going to have some trials in my way,” Paschal said. “so I just looked at this as an opportunity for me just to help other people and to use my platform to spread awareness and also just help others get through the same situation.
Cutting these onions for my omelette is making me tear up. Whew.
17th ranked Cats wrap up home season with a win | WDRB- I have to tip my cap to MTSU. They was a well prepared, well coached team that had a great game plan to beat Kentucky. They ran screens better than any team Kentucky has played all season and every one of them went for about 50 yards.
Josh Allen remains humble after setting record | Cats Illustrated- Allen is about as impressive of a player that I’ve seen come through this program. Really, this entire team has a attitude and I’m going to miss watching them on and off the field.
Mike Edwards sets milestone in victory | Cats Pause- Mike Edwards had one helluva game yesterday. 12 tackles, a pick six, and a forced fumble made him my player of the game. He also joined the 300 tackle club.
Week 12 Power Rankings | Saturdays Down South- Not a very favorable ranking for Kentucky as they sit behind multiple teams that they have already defeated. Oh well. They’ll get a better bowl game than all of them so it is what it is.
Hard work yielding results for the basketball team | UK Athletics- After getting their teeth kicked in by Duke, John Calipari got back to basics with his guys and focused on toughness. Things finally seem to be gelling as they prepare for VMI this evening.
Kentucky focusing on defense vs. VMI | CoachCal.com- There was a much better defensive effort for the Cats when they faced North Dakota. The defense yielded turnovers which yielded easy buckets. Once the team figured that out, they were off to the races. Let’s see them crank it up a notch.
Furman shocks #8 Villanova | CBS- The defending national champs are in trouble as they drop their second straight game. Furman came into Philly and beat Jay Wright’s team on their home court.
Top 25 projections | CBS- The football Cats are sitting at 19 in this projection.
Kentucky sitting pretty in ESPN Power Rankings | ESPN- While other voting systems are down on the Cats, the folks at ESPN are pretty favorable with UK sitting at 15.
UofL collapses, allows 50 points again | WDRB- Bobby Petrino is gone and Lorenzo Ward is the interim head coach but nothing has changed. UofL still is flip-flopping the QB’s, they’re still racking up dumb penalties, and they’re still letting bum teams put up 50 on them. They’re trash and UK will roll them.
Join me tonight after the VMI game on ESPN 680 as I break down the Cats and look ahead to all of the action this Thanksgiving Week.
Follow the leader, ESPN Louisville.
