UK announces new selection procedures for renovated upper-level seating

This is important information, especially for season-ticket holders.

The University of Kentucky continues to roll out upgrades for Rupp Arena, with the next phase including chair-back seating in sections 211-217 and 228-234. This is in direct response to fan feedback, and all bleachers in these areas will be replaced with more comfortable seats.

Of course, this will change the way that seats are labeled and arranged, thus necessitating a new process for re-purchasing season tickets. On Thursday, UK outlined the initial steps of this process for fans via the UK Athletics website.

All upper-level season ticket holders for 2018-2019, regardless of the section your seats are currently in, will be participating in the new process of selecting seats for the 2019-2020 season.

In February of 2019, a Rupp Arena Virtual Venue will be available so that fans can prepare for the seat selection process. The Virtual Venue will provide a 360-degree view of the entire upper-arena. The actual seat selection process will begin later in the spring.

According to the announcement from UK Athletics, loyalty will be rewarded in this process:

“The order in which fans will select seats will be determined based on K Fund priority point ranking as of Jan. 31, 2019. Season ticket holders will also receive bonus K Fund points based on years of consecutive purchase of men’s basketball season tickets as a reward for their loyalty. Lower-level season ticket holders will not participate in this new seat selection process, as their seating areas are unaffected.”

Keep in mind that the only upper-level seats being renovated are those on the sidelines. Club-level seating is also being added above the lower-level, and construction is already underway in those areas.
