The Kentucky Wildcats have a host of big men they’re still in the running for in 2019, including Aidan Igiehon.
According to Jake Weingarten, Kentucky is meeting with Igiehon today. While it hasn’t been 100% confirmed whether or not he’s been offered (or if the offer is committable), Kentucky is still in the mix.
Most recently, recruiting experts Jerry Meyer and Andrew Slater picked Kentucky as the favorite to land Igiehon’s commitment, though Evan Daniels is sticking with Louisville for now, and it’s the Cardinals who lead the crystal ball.
At 6-10, 215 pounds, Igiehon has the size to come in and play at a high level from Day 1 in college. He is a great athlete with an explosive style of play as a center. According to 247 Sports, the 4-star recruit is the ninth-ranked center in the country while ranked 51st overall. ESPN’s recruiting page has Igiehon eighth at his position and 36th in their rankings for 2019.
With Igiehon’s dreams of the NBA, Kentucky is someone he’s taking a hard look at. He has already acknowledged Calipari’s success of grooming players for the NBA.
“Coach Barbee has told me that they want to get me to the next level. They think that if I’m willing to do what it takes, Kentucky is the best place for me. It’s a great fit for me and they have a great track record with big men. I’m trying to go the NBA and they think it would be a great fit if I were to commit there,” he said in an interview with Pat Lawless over the summer.
Interestingly, this visit comes right after Isaiah Stewart took his official visit to Kentucky this past weekend, while Zeke Nnaji cut Kentucky from consideration.
