The Kentucky Wildcats are working hard to come out of the fall signing period with an elite big man.
The hope is one of James Wiseman or Vernon Carey is signed this fall, though it’s possible they skip the first signing period and commit sometime in late November or December.
Either way, Kentucky wants to end 2018 with a big man in the fold, and John Calipari is working hard right now to get Carey in the fold. On Monday, the Kentucky head coach is set to meet with Carey, according to Evan Daniels.
Kentucky's John Calipari is expected to meet with five-star center Vernon Carey today, a source tells @247Sports.

Carey is the No. 2 player and No. 1 power forward in the class of 2019 on the 247 Sports Composite ratings. Rivals has him at No. 1 overall. He’s 6-10, 275 pounds, and has to be the most physical big in the 2019 class. 247 Sports compares his game to that of Washington Wizards forward Markieff Morris.
Carey visited Kentucky for Big Blue Madness, and Calipari quickly followed up with a meeting on the following Tuesday. That means Calipari has seen Carey at least three times in the last three weeks.
This comes while Carey has wrapped up official visits with the Duke Blue Devils and Miami Hurricanes.
Right now, Duke and the Michigan State Spartans are getting more buzz, but as you already know, never count out Calipari and Kentucky.
