Kentucky Basketball offers RJ Hampton

Hampton may still be a candidate to reclassify into 2019.

John Calipari has been a machine on the recruiting trail as of late, especially in regards to the 2020 class.

The latest recruit to earn an offer is RJ Hampton, according to Rivals. Hampton has since confirmed the news:

One of the top overall recruits in the 2020 class, Hampton is a talented and versatile scorer at the guard spot who can also play on the wing at 6-5 and 180 pounds.

Jason Jordan of USA Today caught up with RJ at this year’s Peach Jam to ask about his interest and overall thoughts on Kentucky.

“It’s a great program,” R.J. said. “I know a lot of people don’t like it and they don’t think it’s good for college basketball – I think that’s why people are changing the (one-and-done) rule – but I like the Kentucky program. I’ve had a bunch of people that I’m close with go there.”

The junior guard is currently set to visit the Wildcats this fall during their midnight madness event. Hampton just went to Kansas’ Late Night in the Phog on September 28th, and he will wrap up this round of visits at Big Blue Madness on October 12th.

Hampton was once expected to reclassify into 2019, but he opted to remain in 2020 (for now). However, fellow Kentucky recruit James Wiseman is actually pushing Hampton to move into 2019.

The common school with both players are Kentucky and Memphis. Hampton and Wiseman recently visited Memphis together and have gotten a lot of buzz recently in both recruitments.
