The University of Kentucky football program is seeing its stock rise on just about every front, and that includes the updated Bovada odds to win the College Football Playoff National Championship.
The new odds from Bovada has the Cats now listed at 200/1 odds to win the playoff. It’s obvious that Kentucky’s win over South Carolina and 5-0 start caught the attention of the oddsmakers, which translated to the new projection.
The college football experts are starting to take notice of not only the accomplishments that Kentucky already has, such as winning in The Swamp, but also the path that is forming to make UK a legitimate contender in the SEC East.
The November 3rd showdown with Georgia will be the game to circle on your calendar, as it very well could come down to that to decide who will play in the SEC Championship game on December 1st in Atlanta. It is all but a forgone conclusion that the winner of the SEC East will meet Alabama in the championship game. Bovada has updated the Crimson Tide’s chance to win the CFP National Championship to an unreal 4/5.
With complete respect to the folks at Bovada, because they know what they are talking about, I did find some of the odds to be somewhat crazy. Like Florida mirroring Kentucky’s chances at 200/1 makes me scratch my head. I guess the theory is that they still have a real chance to win the SEC East and go to Atlanta.
We all know the respect that the SEC garners, so playing in the title game would make a strong case to get in the CFP 4-team playoff. But In my opinion, Kentucky’s chances as of October 2nd are far superior to Florida’s, especially when you calculate in that UK has Benny Snell, one of the most dynamic players in the country.
Snell also saw his Heisman chances go on the rise after another great game this weekend. Snell went from not even on the board a week ago to 60/1 odds today. That is a ridiculous jump that proves he is beginning to get the accolades that he deserves. The Cats have to keep winning in order for Snell to have a real chance.
At this point, it seems like a runaway for Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa, whose odds went to 10/11. One bad game can change everything, and you know Snell will continue to get a heavy workload. It would be awesome to see him get an invite to New York, even if he doesn’t take home the hardware.
Will you be dropping some money on the Cats to win it all? What about money on Benny to win the Heisman? That would be a huge pay day for a brave soul that gets in early.
