Can the Kentucky Wildcats keep their magical unbeaten ride going?
They’ll get a major challenge in doing so this week when they hit the road to face the Texas A&M Aggies. These two SEC clubs have rarely faced each other, partly because the Aggies just joined the SEC in 2012. This will be the first time they’ve played each other since the Aggies first joined the league.
The two programs have only played twice, the last being in 1953 when the Aggies won 7-6. Kentucky won the previous year by a 10-7 margin.
Kentucky is coming off a 24-10 win over the South Carolina Gamecocks, a game which the road team was actually favored, the third time the Wildcats have been underdogs this year. This Saturday will make it four, as the Aggies opened up as 6.5-point favorites.
Texas A&M is coming off a 24-17 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks at AT&T Stadium. The Aggies are 3-2 this year with losses to No. 1 Alabama and No. 4 Clemson. Their other wins were over Louisiana-Monroe and Northwestern State.
This will be a massive game for Kentucky, as they’re looking to make a serious run at the SEC East title, but they need every win they can get to keep pace with the Georgia Bulldogs.
This is also probably the second-hardest game left on the schedule behind only that November matchup with Georgia. A big reason why is the Aggies actually have Mark Stoops’ former boss as their coach, as Jimbo Fisher is in Year 1 at College Station and looking for an early breakthrough win.
This game will kick off at 7 PM EST on Saturday, Oct. 6 on ESPN.
