Thursday Quickies: Anthony Davis for MVP Edition

Davis had a great showing in his first game of the season

NBA: New Orleans Pelicans at Houston Rockets Erik Williams-USA TODAY Sports

Anthony Davis opened his NBA season with a bang last night, racking up a video game-like statline for the first of many expected superstar performances in the 2018-2019 season.

In a win against the James Harden-led Rockets last night, Davis scored 32 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, dished 8 assists, while accumulating three steals and three blocks in 39 minutes of action.

Quite the statline for the former Kentucky Wildcat.

Davis was efficient too from the floor, shooting 13-21 and racking up a +23 while on the court for the Pelicans in their season-opening win.

The race for MVP will be a tight one this year between James Harden, LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, Greek Freak, and some others, but if Davis continues to have these type of performances, discussing the NBA MVP without Davis mentioned will be impossible.
