Kentucky Wildcats earn preseason SEC honors

The SEC is loaded, but Kentucky has the firepower to win the league again.

As usual, the Kentucky Wildcats are the preseason pick to win the SEC.

The media picks for the SEC and all-conference teams were revealed Wednesday, and Kentucky edged out Tennessee and Auburn as the preseason pick to win the league.

As for the All-SEC teams, senior forward Reid Travis wasa first-team selection, while sophomore forward PJ Washington was second-team pick.

Travis, a graduate transfer from Stanford, earned All-Pac 12 First-Team honors last season while averaging 19.5 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. He was going to be a preseason first-team pick in just about any league in America, and he’s primed for a special year in Lexington.

As for Washington, he is UK’s leading returning scorer at 10.8 points and rebounder at 5.7 per game. He scored in double figures in 11 of the final 12 games of the season, averaging 12.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while shooting 57.6 percent from the floor during that span.
