JT Thor among recruits added to guest list for Big Blue Madness

Strengthening the pipeline with Huntington Prep could be huge for Kentucky moving forward.

John Calipari and the Kentucky coaching staff did the absolute most that they could in the final hour to maximize the recruit presence at Big Blue Madness.

Jake Weingarten of Stock Risers reported on Wednesday evening that four players, all from Huntington Prep, would be added to the guest list for Friday’s events, including 2020 five star player, Jaemyn Brakefield who is a big-time target for Kentucky.

2020 four-star AJ Hoggard. 2021 five-star JT Thor, and 2021 four-star Joshua Primo will all join Brakefield at Rupp Arena. Brakefield was already set to attend Madness and has been a guy that UK has had on the radar for some time. He is seemingly someone that they really want in the class of 2020.

It is good news that some of his teammates will be tagging along, I would assume that could only help in making it an enjoyable experience for all of them. I really like the idea of having someone with the last name Thor on the roster.

Keeping a strong pipeline going with Huntington Prep would be a very positive thing for Kentucky basketball recruiting. This is one of the most prolific high school basketball programs in America that has produced tons of talent including Andrew Wiggins in 2013.

So, inviting three of Jaemyn Brakefield’s teammates to Big Blue Madness is not a ploy by Coach Cal to charm him into committing. These are are all terrific players with four and five star status that will begin to gain notoriety as over the next year or so.

Brakefield has great length at 6’8 and is a raw scorer who can really put the ball in the basket. He averaged 17.4 points last season, with a season high of 34 points. Here is a breakdown of his sophomore season at Huntington Prep.

Thor is actually the highest-ranked recruit of the bunch, as 247 Sports ranks him 10th overall in the Class of 2021. The 6-8, 190-pound power forward already has offers from Florida, Arizona State, UConn and Cal.

Huntington Prep will actually play a game in Louisville against Aspire Academy on Saturday December 8th at 2:00 pm. The two teams play in the same conference and the game will be a part of the Bojangles Bash. This is a great opportunity for the Big Blue Nation to get out and cheer for several Kentucky recruits all at once.
