The Kentucky Wildcats are falling hard in the newest top 25 polls and power rankings.
After losing at Tennessee, the Cats have fallen all the way down to No. 21 in the newest AP Top 25 Poll. That seems a bit harsh, especially since Tennessee is still ranked No. 24 in the polls.
To date, UK has three losses, but two of them are to top-25 teams, including No. 12 Kansas. However, UK doesn’t have a win over a top-25 team, and they won’t get a chance for one for at least another week, as they’ll face unranked Texas A&M and Vanderbilt this week.
Here is the entire AP Poll:
5 (tie) Wichita State Shockers
5 (tie) Purdue Boilermakers
21 Kentucky Wildcats
The newest ESPN power rankings weren’t any friendlier. They have UK dropping all the way to No. 24.
24. Kentucky Wildcats
Record: 12-3
Last week: 18
Really, what has Kentucky done this season? Home wins over Virginia Tech and Louisville looked better on the day they happened than they do now, and there’s nothing else to really hang their hat on. The young Wildcats have shown signs of improvement, though, and they get a slumping Texas A&M bunch on Tuesday.
If the Cats don’t beat Texas A&M and Vanderbilt this week, they’ll likely be unranked in every poll next week.
