The Kentucky Wildcats are losing one of their recruits of the 2017 class.

Redshirt freshman wide receiver Javonte Richardson is transferring from UK after just one year in Lexington. Justin Rowland was the first to break the news.

Richardson was regarded by some outlets as UK’s top-ranked recruit in the Class of 2017. He was ranked 309th nationally by 247 Sports, as well as the 17th-best recruit from the state of Ohio.

While Richardson ended up redshirting this past season, he was expected to make a big impact next year with Garrett Johnson and Charles Walker departing. This is a big loss to the future of this position, but UK still has plenty of young guns here, including Josh Ali, Isaiah Epps, Clevan Thomas and Tavin Richardson.
