Mark Stoops hints at NFL Draft decisions

As many as four Cats could leave for the NFL Draft.

January 16th is the deadline for collegiate football players to declare for the NFL Draft.

Mark Stoops and his staff have worked hard to provide the Kentucky Wildcats juniors with accurate information to inform their decision on whether to return to school or enter the draft. Stoops went on Kentucky Sports Radio on Friday and talked about the players that may leave early.

All of the potential draftees come from the defensive side of the ball for the Wildcats. Jordan Jones, Denzil Ware, Josh Allen, and Mike Edwards are all considering making the jump.

“There’s probably two of them that need to make a decision. The other two need to come back,” Stoops told Matt Jones on KSR.

That may sound a bit cryptic, but he went on to specify which players have a real decision to make.

“I’ve got two guys out there that have to make a decision, “Stoops added. “I don’t want to speak for the other players, you can read between the lines, but Mike and Josh need to give me their final decision.”

It seems pretty clear that Stoops believes Jones and Ware would be better off returning to college. However, Ware’s future in Lexington has been uncertain since being suspended for the Music City Bowl. And due to a lack of self-control show in the Wildcats’ final games, many believe Jones should move on as well.

So I believe that Stoops’ comments reflect multiple meanings. First of all, he does not believe Ware and Jones have any business declaring for the draft. Secondarily, it seems he does want to them to stay at Kentucky, a point that has been up for debate as or late.

It also seems that he believes Allen and Edwards should strongly consider declaring for the NFL Draft. Allen created a lot of buzz for himself this season, and Edwards had a strong showing after making the All-SEC team his sophomore season.

Which of these guys do you think should enter the draft early?
