John Wall injury update: Will undergo knee surgery, likely out 6 weeks

John Wall will also miss the NBA All-Star Game.

John Wall will undergo a knee procedure that is expected to sideline him for up to six weeks, per the Washington Post. The procedure is expected to be a “cleanup” and will keep him from participating in this year’s All-Star festivities.

Of the 49 games the Wizards have played this season, Wall has only been a part of 37. He’s in what is considered a “down year,” despite making the all-star team, averaging 19.4 PPG and 9.3 AST.

The Wizards are currently fifth in the Eastern Conference but have the same record as the sixth seed Milwaukee Bucks and are only a half game ahead of the seventh seed Indiana Pacers. There upcoming opponents during this six-week span include 15 current playoff teams.

Expect the Wizards to not only drop in playoff seeding but possibly out of the race completely. But whatever happens, all that matters is Wall getting healthy and back to 100 percent.
