Kentucky Basketball Recruiting: Where James Wiseman, other UK targets stand in new 247 rankings for 2019

Six of the top 20 players in the class have Kentucky offers.

247 Sports released their latest rankings for the Class of 2019, and Kentucky target James Wiseman has taken over the top spot in the class.

Wiseman, the 6’11” forward from Memphis, took over the spot from forward Vernon Carey Jr.

Wiseman has been seen as a heavy Kentucky lean for quite some time. All 12 predictions on his Crystal Ball are for the Wildcats and there has been a fair share of speculation that Wiseman may look to reclassify to 2018, despite denying the rumors at the Marshall County Hoopfest last year.

A denial doesn’t hold a ton of significance, as there are some reasons that Wiseman could’ve denied the reclassification rumors. More on that can be found in this piece by Kyle Tucker of SEC Country.

Other prospects with Kentucky offers were featured highly in the 2019 rankings. Carey holds a UK offer and comes in at #2, but he is seen as more of a Duke lean.

Matthew Hurt, the 6’9” forward from Minnesota, moved up to #4 in the rankings, Bryan Antoine and Scotty Lewis come in at 8 and 9.

The two have talked publicly about playing together as they play for the same high school team and same AAU team. Both are 6’5” but Antoine is considered more of a combo guard while Lewis is more of a wing player who is more known for being a strong defender with a wingspan measuring around 6’11”.

Other Kentucky offers in the rankings include Keion Brooks (16), Tyrese Maxey (17), and DJ Jeffries (27).

Below are some highlights of UK targets in action.
