The Kentucky Wildcats remain hopeful they’ll land Zion Williamson this week.

That includes UK signee Immanuel Quickley, who has been heavily recruiting Zion to UK since this past summer. While Clemson looks like the team to beat going into Saturday’s decision, Quickely remains hopeful that they’ll be playing together in Lexington.

On Monday, Quickley and his John Carroll team were part of the Hoophall Classic, showcasing some of the nation’s top high school teams and recruits. After his team’s loss to Hudson Catholic, Quickley spoke with Adam Zagoria about Zion’s impending decision.

“I spoke to him (Zion) a little bit. I won’t say what I know but I’m hoping he can come to Kentucky,” said Quickley. “That’s basically what it is.”

Quickley admitted that he understands if the South Carolina native stays close to home and plays at Clemson.

“Clemson’s about an hour from his home, you can’t be mad at somebody going to college an hour away.”

Reading the whole interview, it sounds like Quickley isn’t too optimistic that Zion will pick UK. Quickley has been pushing hard for Zion to join him at UK, but while it was a good effort, it may not be enough.

Regardless of whether Zion comes or not, Quickley is a special player in his own right. In his Hoophall Classic matchup with Hudson Catholic, Quickley earned team MVP honors after scoring 19 points.
