The Kentucky Wildcats are now 14-3 after a 74-67 win at Vanderbilt.
It wasn’t easy, but the Cats once again found a way to gut out a hard-fought SEC win. To this point, all four of UK’s conference wins have come down to the final minutes, but these young Cats keep coming up with enough clutch plays to win, both at home and on the road.
In Nashville, it was the same script we’ve seen in UK’s five wins in their last six games: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander having a big night. It started with the blowout of Louisville, and it’s continued in all four of UK’s SEC wins thus far.
Today, it was a 22-point outing by the Canadian freshman to go with a game-high six assists. He’s a star playing at a superstar level for a team that desperately needed one, not to mention he’s picking up the slack left by Quade Green being out with a back strain.
But Shai wasn’t the only one thriving in Nashville. Fellow freshman Kevin Knox went for 17 points and four rebounds. PJ Washington and Wenyen Gabriel combined for 17 points and 17 rebounds.
Here is the final box score:
