Jordan Jones will not face any suspension following an altercation with Southern Miss fans during last Saturday’s game, according to Kyle Tucker at SEC Country.
UK Spokesperson Tony Neely told Tucker on Friday morning that UK had been made aware of the altercation, in which Jones seemed to attempt spitting on USM fans and apparently made obscene gestures as well. Several videos recorded Jones’ sideline actions.
Neely said that the coaching staff has dealt with Jones internally.
Jones had five tackles in that opening game and is Kentucky’s leading tackler from last season, which saw him earn All-SEC honors.
Jones will need to learn to keep his composure in difficult road environments. With Kentucky playing road games at South Carolina, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, and Georgia, this incident will likely give opposing fans even more incentive to try to get under his skin.
Hopefully, this mistake is behind Jones and he won’t let it happen again.
