The Kentucky Wildcats got terrible news Saturday, as Jarred Vanderbilt will miss the next three months due to a foot injury suffered in practice.
Vanderbilt was expected to contend for a starting spot on another loaded-but-young UK squad. If nothing else, he was going to be a big spark off the bench for a team that figures to be a Final Four contender.
Now, Vanderbilt is in danger of missing most of his freshman season after he undergoes foot surgery to repair the damages. In light of this, several of Vanderbilt’s teammates tweeted out support of their fallen comrade, who they expect to rebound from this setback.

With the motor and worth ethic I’ve seen from Jarred, I have no doubt he’s going to be better than ever when he returns.

Vanderbilt himself tweeted out a message to the Big Blue Nation, letting them know that everything will be all good.

The current recovery timetable has Vanderbilt returning some time in January in the early part of SEC play, though I expect UK to be ultra conservative and ensure he’s fully recovered. He’s had too many foot and ankle injuries thus far, so don’t be surprised if it’s past January until he returns.
