Zion Williamson recruiting: Family shoots down report he’s involved in Adidas scandal

A report suggested Adidas may be (illegally) steering Zion Williamson toward Kansas, but Zion’s family says it’s false.

The recruitment of Zion Williamson has had it’s ups and downs, but the Kentucky Wildcats are still in a good spot for the elite wing.

However, one has to wonder how Williamson may be affected in the recent FBI corruption scandal, which Adidas is heavily involved with.

Let me preface this by saying I’ve never heard of this website being reliable for exclusive stories, but there’s a report from Chat Sports that Williamson could be involved in the Adidas side of this scandal.

It’s more focused on an Adidas rep trying to steer Williamson toward the Kansas Jayhawks, ‘the’ Adidas school. Williamson also plays for S.C. Supreme, an Adidas-sponsored AAU team.

If anything wrong happened, Kentucky will almost certainly find out, which could mean Williamson ends up off their recruiting board. That would be a tough pill to swallow for Kentucky, especially if R.J. Barrett lands at Duke.

However, Williamson’s family is already shooting down this report, according to a report from CBS 7 Sports.

Williamson’s stepfather, Lee Anderson, told 7 Sports Thursday night that “no one from Adidas has approached Zion or his family.”

Anderson says he’s aware of the Chat Sports article and adds, “If anyone approached the family without Zion’s best interests in mind we would simply walk away.”

Hopefully, there is nothing more to this story and Williamson hasn’t been involved with anyone playing dirty. He’s too good of a player to be involved with this, and he’ll be a millionaire soon enough. I doubt he’s letting anyone pay him to go to a certain school.
