Kentucky’s Courtney Love is a key piece to a one of the top rushing defenses in the country. However, his biggest contributions are being made off the field. For his service to families both locally and abroad, Love has been named to the 2017 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.
Last season, Love was named to the SEC Community Service team. He has also been nominated for other national awards such as the Senior CLASS Award and the Lott IMPACT Trophy.
Love leads the University of Kentucky football team in community service hours, and focuses much of his local charity work on children. Primarily, he enjoys serving children from single-parent households or kids whose parents are incarcerated. Having a history of growing up amid those factors himself, he loves being able to support those going through what he went through.
One organization that has been a wonderful match for Love’s passion is Amachi Central Kentucky, a mentoring program for youth with incarcerated parents.
"Since Courtney began mentoring through Amachi, he has exhibited compassion, kindness, leadership, and love," Amachi specialist Destini Engle said. "Working with him is one of the greatest honors of my life. He has changed and will continue to change so many lives through his story and his mentorship. I cannot think of a more deserving individual for this award."

In May of last year, Love took his passion for service to Ethiopia. While there, he built houses and delivered food to impoverished families. His contributions to communities both near and far are truly inspirational.
This new recognition is a big honor as Love is one of only 11 FBS football players (in addition to 11 from FCS) to be named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team this season. Here is the complete list:
- Daniel Carlson – Auburn University
