You may be wondering why John Calipari offered Jaxson Hayes, an unranked 2018 recruit who never started in high school. Well I’ll give you 10 reasons: the 10 inches he’s grown since entering high school. The 6’10” big man from Cincinnati hit a growth spurt that we haven’t seen since, dare I compare it, Anthony Davis’ spurt in high school. That frame gives him the potential to accomplish a whole lot. And Calipari isn’t the only coach that’s jumped on board. He also has offers from Texas, Xavier, Ohio State and several other power five schools.
He’s a project player, but it’s not crazy to think he’s worth the risk.
