The college football season has barely even started but ESPN is already putting out their preseason bowl projections.
In the new projections, Kyle Bonagura and David M. Hale project every post-season bowl game matchup.
The analysts had differing ideas of where Kentucky could land during the bowl season.
Bonagura places Kentucky in the Independence Bowl in Shrevport, Louisiana on Dec. 27. against Syracuse.
Not exactly a glowing endorsement for the Wildcats. Syracuse finished with four wins last year under first-year head coach Dino Babers, and while they should be due a second-year improvement, they will have a tough road to six wins.
But hey, a bowl is a bowl. Can we just have it somewhere else besides Shrevport...?
Hale’s prediction I like better. Hale projects Kentucky to the Music City Bowl in one of Big Blue Nation’s favorite cities, Nashville.
Hale places Kentucky up against a Nebraska squad that finished 9-4 last season and could potentially contend for the Big 10 West Division crown this year.
The only problem with the Music City Bowl: It’s December 29, the same day as the Kentucky-Louisville basketball game. Could bowl executives be worried about Kentucky selling football tickets with the biggest game on their basketball schedule the same day? Very possible.
Luckily, the SEC has plenty of bowl options, but first off, Kentucky needs to take care of business in Hattiesburg and get some revenge on our buddy Shannon Dawson.
