Saturday night will start SEC play for the Kentucky Wildcats as they travel to Columbia, South Carolina to face the Gamecocks.
Both teams are 2-0 with South Carolina off to the better start. The Gamecocks have wins over NC State and Mizzou and also ranked 5th out of 14 in the Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings heading into week 3.
Kentucky, however, has struggled with Southern Miss and Eastern Kentucky but managed to pull out wins against both. The Wildcats ranked 11th of 14 in the power rankings.
Kentucky, though, has won three straight against South Carolina. The Wildcats are also seeking their first ever 3-0 start under head coach Mark Stoops.
A run-game that's picked up momentum during the last 30 minutes of action and a swarming defense on third down are viable keys to succeeding Saturday night.
ESPN's Power Index is giving Kentucky just an 18.1% chance of victory yet has the spread set at just +6.5 points. It should be noted, however, that Kentucky is 0-2 against the spread while South Carolina is 2-0.
You'll be able to catch the game on SEC Network at 7:30 PM EDT. AccuWeather is predicting 90 degrees with partly cloudy skies.
