The Kentucky Wildcats will be without their best defender when they face the South Carolina Gamecocks.
On Thursday, head coach Mark Stoops announced that Jordan Jones will be held out this week. Stoops added that Jones still needs to undergo some more tests on his injured shoulder. The All-SEC linebacker is now considered week to week.
Jones being ruled out this week isn’t much of a surprise, but the fact Stoops is making this announcement Thursday and not waiting until closer to game time is not a good sign for Jones’ Week 4 availability.
If you could rank the top 2-3 players UK could ill-afford to lose, Jones was near or even at the top. He’s a critical player on this defense, not to mention one of the best linebackers in the SEC.
With Jones out, Eli Brown is expected to start in his absence.
