Immanuel Quickley set to take his official visit with Kentucky Wildcats this weekend

After missing his visit to Miami last weekend, Quickley is sticking to his schedule to come to Lexington.

After hearing Zion Williamson’s praise for Duke and Coach K, I’m sure Cal will be happy to have Immanuel Quickley on campus this weekend.

The 6-3, 180-pound point guard has long been on Calipari’s watch list; he was the first player from the 2018 class to score a scholarship offer from Kentucky in the fall of 2016.

Quickley is among the best (if not the best) point guard in his class and would add a blend of athleticism, passing, and perimeter shooting (he shot better than 40% from range over the summer) at the point position.

Calipari has long been a fan of Quickley’s, as evidenced by the early scholarship offer, and got prime access to coach and recruit Quickley during the U-19 Basketball World Cup. Quickley has been open about that experience and the edge it gave Calipari in his recruitment.

Hurricane Irma has wreaked some havoc on Florida recruiting (including Calipari’s in-home visit with Zion Williamson). Quickley was set to visit Miami this past weekend, but the arrival of Irma cancelled that trip. He still plans to visit Kentucky this weekend, according to Cats Pause.

Quickley currently plans to stick to his previously set schedule and will presumably announce his decision on time by the end of this month. He has already set Miami, Kansas, and Kentucky as his three top schools and there is little doubt that he will choose the Cats.

Surprises can happen, but hopefully the visit this weekend, and Quickley’s own comments on playing for Calipari at UK, can seal the deal.

Here are some of Quickley’s high school highlights to prepare you for what we could see him doing for UK next season:
