The University of Kentucky Wildcats will start their 2017 campaign on the road Saturday at Southern Miss. Facing the same opponent who traveled to then Commonwealth Stadium and shocked Big Blue Nation to start the season, Kentucky will look to avenge themselves behind enemy lines.
Kentucky is coming off their stellar win at the University of Louisville last season that propelled them into their first bowl game in years. Though they lost the battle with Georgia Tech in the TaxSlayer Bowl, Kentucky will look to carry last season's momentum into M. M. Roberts Stadium Saturday afternoon.
The Southern Miss Golden Eagles finished 2016 7-6 but were on the beneficial side of a few upsets.
Kentucky finished 7-6 as well but fared on both sides of multiple upsets, including their home opener against the Golden Eagles a season ago in which they lost 35-44 as 3-point favorites.
Saturday's game will surely feature a heavy workload for star sophomore running back Benny Snell Jr. With Southern Miss having a -17 turnover ratio last season, Kentucky Head Coach (and former DB coach) Mark Stoops should be able to capitalize on the Golden Eagles' weakness.
As of Wednesday, the spread was set at -10 favoring Kentucky with an over/under of 57.5, though it’s rose and dropped slightly since. The game is set to be played at 4 P.M. EDT and aired on CBSSN. Here is everything you’ll need to watch and follow the contest:
