Kentucky Basketball recruiting: UK wants Simisola Shittu to visit

The top-10 recruit and Canadian star is heavily considering the Wildcats.

The Kentucky Wildcats continue to pursue highly-touted forward Simisola Shittu.

Shittu, the #8 player in the Class of 2018 according to 247 Sports National Composite Rankings, has had quite the summer, racking up other offers from UNC, Ohio State, and Baylor, among others.

Kentucky has watched Shittu several times this summer. That included John Calipari taking a trip with Jamal Murray to Canada to watch Shittu play in a recruiting showcase.

Now, Calipari wants Shittu to visit Lexington, according to Adam Zagoria. There’s no word on when that visit would take place, as Shittu has yet to schedule any official visits this fall.

The 247 Sports Crystal Ball currently projects Shittu to UK with 50 percent, followed by Oregon with 25 percent and UCONN and Syracuse with 12 percent each. The last four predictions for Shittu have been for Kentucky.

Shittu is a Canadian native, and Calipari has had luck landing Canadian players in the past with Murray and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Kentucky is also actively recruiting 2018 Canadian forward R.J. Barrett as well.

While a scholarship offer has not been publicly extended from Kentucky to Shittu, you have to think one is coming with as much interest as Calipari is showing. Perhaps one will come once Marvin Bagley makes his decision, as he’s the top power forward Kentucky wants in 2018.

Here are some clips of Shittu in action.
