Five-star 2018 forward Cameron Reddish is now down to five schools, but most in the recruiting world believe it is going to be another heated Kentucky vs Duke battle.
Connecticut, UCLA, and Villanova seem to be on the outside looking in when it comes to the 6-8 do-it-all wing.
Reddish, ranked No. 4 overall in the country, has been seen as a heavy Duke lean for some time now, with 93 percent of the Crystal Ball predictions going to the Blue Devils, but SEC Country’s Kyle Tucker said that he thinks Kentucky has a great shot at landing Reddish, who said his decision is likely coming sooner than people are expecting.
“I think they have a great shot,” said Aaron Burt, head coach of Reddish’s Nike AAU squad, Team Final. “They have a great environment, great coaching, and I feel like Kentucky is a great opportunity for him. So they have a great shot at him.”
That is exciting news for Kentucky fans, as Reddish is a talented and versatile forward that can play nearly every position. With solid size, shooting, and ball-handling skills, he projects as a player that Calipari would love to plug into his position-less basketball style.
One would also think Reddish’s featured role on Team USA this summer would also be a plus, as Calipari had the opportunity to not just tell Reddish how he would be used if he became a Wildcat, but showcase it himself with Reddish playing as the team’s point guard at times.
The 2018 class is heavy on wing players with guys like Reddish, R.J. Barrett, and Zion Williamson. Landing Reddish would be a major victory for Calipari in his recruiting battle with Coach K at Duke.
Many recruiting experts assume Reddish will pick Duke, but the Blue Devils are also strongly in the mix for Barrett. Perhaps Barrett could pick Duke and push Reddish towards Kentucky, being that they both play on the wing.
