CBS Sports shows Kentucky Football no love in SEC predictions

Despite being named by some as a contender in the SEC East, the CBS staff believes Kentucky will not crack the top half of the division.

CBS Sports “experts” made their predictions this week for the coming SEC football season, and the results may end up being bulletin board material for the Kentucky this fall.

Although many at ESPN and the SEC network have named the Wildcats as a potential dark horse to win the eastern division, the staff writers at CBS are not buying it. Most of them have Kentucky finishing in the bottom half yet again.

Dennis Dodd: 5th

Barton Simmons: 6th

Jerry Palm: 5th

Chip Patterson: 7th

Tom Fornelli: 4th

Ben Kercheval: 5th

Barrett Sallee: 6th

Everyone but Tom Fornelli has Georgia and Florida finishing 1-2 in some order, with Tennessee and South Carolina following to wrap up the top 4. While Mark Stoops’ squad is consistently picked to finish ahead of Vanderbilt and Missouri, that sentiment is hardly unanimous.

Some talking heads have Kentucky finishing with 8 or 9 wins due to both the favorable schedule and the fact that this is the most talent Lexington has seen in some time. The Wildcats will host Florida, Missouri, and Tennessee while traveling to South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Georgia in division play.

The real wildcard in the east seems to be South Carolina. The Gamecocks are picked everywhere from 2nd to 6th in the division and could prove to be a huge win for Kentucky or a devastating loss.

Where do you think Kentucky will finish in the SEC East this season?
